Rogue One: A Star Wars Story review
On the 16th of December 2016 I saw the latest movie on the Star Wars saga. The story takes place in between episode 3 and episode 4, It makes the second Star Wars movie since Disney got there hands on the rights. Due to the success of Episode 7 they decided to do another prequel movie, like the other prequel movies were any good. Hmmm, Hmmm George Lucas. Now anyway enough with all that lets get on to the movie. So to go on some negatives of the movie first it does not have the classic opening where it tells you the events that happened before the movie starts and only traces of John Williams's classic score is heard throughout the movie. The score for the movie is written by Michael Giacchino who is notable for his work on the JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot and this years Doctor Strange.
Those are only two risky parts of the movie that I thought should not really happened, but the score wasn't so bad. Besides its not such a bad composer to replace Mr. Williams with. Anyone on to the movie. The story is about collecting the plans to the super weapon known to everyone as the Death Star. The cast was quite good with Felicity Jones as the new big heroine Jyn Erso, Diego Luna as Cassian Andor a rebel fighter, Alan Tudyk as K-2S0 a Imperial droid that was reprogrammed, Donnie Yen as Chirrut Îmwe an old Jedi who is blind, Wen Jiang as Baze Malbas the carer of Chirrut, Riz Ahmed as Bodhi Rook a imperial pilot who swaps sides and many more.
The story focuses on all these characters coming together to get the Death Star plans from Scarif, where the plans are stored. The Death Star is built by Jyn's father Galen Erso who is portrayed by Mad Mikkelsen. But they are stopped by Director Orson Krennic portrayed by Ben Mendelsohn who is protecting the Death Star until it is placed in the hands of Grand Moff Tarkin who is in the film. Now before I continue with the film lets go on to another negative, the actor in a new hope the great Hammer Horror actor Peter Cushing is now dead and in the film he is portrayed by Guy Henry. I know what your think that's obviously going to happen but they decided to digitalise Guy's face to make him look like Peter Cushing. Know digitalised characters have been in used in the Terminator 4 and 5 (like they were successful) and Fast and Furious 7. The only problem I have with this is that CGI has grown so much over the years that, well this certain effect makes it a bit obvious.
Anyway back to the film, there are many other characters that return like Jimmy Smits Bail Organa, Genevieve O' Reilly's Mom Mothma and lets not forget James Earl Jones returns as the big bad Darth Vader. I liked this as it made the film connect more with the Star Wars universe instead of having mentions of the character. Lets not forget, C-3PO and R2-D2 come back in the film. Also Princess Leia but with a digitalised face like Tarkin.
Overall, I enjoyed the film with the introduction to the new characters and the return to some of the old characters as well. I cannot wait for more Anthology films and hope to see what the Han Solo movie will be like in 2018. That's enough from me. I though Gareth Edwards did a great job on doing a full feature length movie based on a sentence that was scene in Episode 4. I would give Rogue One a 8/10.

Spider- Man: Homecoming teaser Trailer review
Recently Marvel posted up two teaser trailers for the latest instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and also the start of the Marvel/ Sony shared universe. The reason I say the words shared universe as both Marvel and Sony share the rights to the character. All previous Spider-Man movies have been done just by Sony, when the "Amazing Spider-Man 2" hit theatres back in 2014 it did not go well with audiences. Shamefully Son had plans to do a third instalment and a possible spin- off they had to delay those plans due to the films failure. In 2015 it was announced that Spider-Man would go back to Marvel. In 2016, Spider-Man was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the biggest Marvel ever to be released. It was called Captain America: Civil War.
Anyway that's enough Spider history for one day, the trailer starts with a view of New York at night, it then cuts to a futuristic laser type weapon used in what looks like a robbery. We then see that the robbers are wearing masks of the Avengers. Who do we see behind them? Why your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. He then mocks the robbers for not being the "real Avengers". They start to attack but Spider-Man beats them to it with his quick reflexes, the scene finishes with Spider-Man saying "That was awesome." It then cuts to Peter Parker's school life and also a scene where Peter and his friend start to eye a girl, humorously they start talking about her clothes. Once that finishes we then see Zumaya's character who is apparently called Michelle. This is not the only famous person within the film Robert Downey JR reprises his role as Tony Stark and of course Michael Keaton returns to superhero movies as the main antagonist the Vulture.
The Vulture's costume looks pretty interesting compared to his comic book counter part. The trailer ends with Spider-Man saving people from what looks like a cruise-ship, there is also a small clip of both Spider-Man and Iron Man flying through New York. That's enough description what did I think of the trailer. I thought it was looked amazing, I can not wait to explore more into this version of the character and how he will fit into the MCU. With a rumoured Spider-verse on the way I personally cannot wait to see more movies with Tom Holland as everyone's favourite teenage superhero.
